‘Up In The Blue Seats’ Podcast Episode 110: What Could K’Andre Miller’s Next Contract Look Like?

K’Andre Miller is playing at another level, and the man is going to get paid this summer.

Miller will be a restricted free agent. The Rangers are going to need to bring him back. He is an integral part of the success this team is having, especially on their surge this past six weeks, going 14-3-2. The Blueshirts get a hell of a test on Thursday when the NHL’s best Boston Bruins come to Madison Square Garden for what will be a must-watch hockey game. It might be hard to top last Thursday at MSG, featuring a miraculous last-second, game-tying goal and game-winner over the Stars within 90 seconds in overtime.

To talk about everything going on in Rangers land, we bring you a new episode of the “Up In The Blue Seats” podcast with Mollie Walker, Larry Brooks and me. You can listen to the episode below, wherever you get podcasts or watch the show below on the New York Post Sports YouTube page.

Up In The Blue Seats Podcast with Jake Brown & Mollie Walker:

  • BOUNCEBACK WIN: Rangers lose to the lowly Canadiens on Sunday, but then rebound to beat the Blue Jackets the next day. They have lost to some bad teams this season, but they are still on a heck of a tear since early December.
  • HALAK AND ROLL: The Rangers backup goalie is 4-0 in the past six weeks in the games he has started. Halak is comfortable with his role as the backup netminder and after a slow start, he is playing great now.
  • THURSDAY’S OT THRILLER: That ending was one of those moments that will be a major part of the season’s highlight reel. It was the one game Mollie was not there for. It was one of the loudest moments in the building at MSG. You rarely see a last-second goal ever, let alone to tie a game. It’s been enjoyable to watch K’Andre Miller go on the tear that he’s on, with nine points in the last seven games.
  • RANGERS-BRUINS BATTLE THURSDAY: The Bruins, who had a historic first half of the season, are into the second half now. Rangers are a different team than the one that lost at MSG to them in early November. Thursday will be a good test.
  • MOLLIE’S TOP 5 NHL CITIES & NHL ARENAS: Mollie gives out her top five list of NHL cities and top five list of NHL arenas.
Top 5 NHL Cities: Tampa Bay, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Denver, Las Vegas
Top 5 NHL Arenas: Bell Center in Montreal, Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Mullett Arena in Arizona

Larry Brooks Interview:
NY Post Hall of Fame hockey columnist

  • WILD WIN OVER STARS: It came out of nowhere. It was chaos all packed into less than two minutes at the end of regulation and into overtime.
  • MILLER TIME: Moving him up to the second power play. How will his next contract play out? How much might he make? Putting himself in a good position for this contract seems to have been on his mind. Most of these second defenseman contracts are not of the six-seven-eight year variety.
  • SECOND POWER PLAY: Debating what the first and second power play unit should look like. Something about Gerard Gallant that holds a team together. They play hard for him.
  • BRUINS HISTORIC SEASON: They are playing at a pace in which they would have the highest winning percentage in the modern era. This will be a really interesting tool of evaluation Thursday for the Rangers.
