The Indianapolis Colts offered another shocker at the top of the 2023 NFL Draft, taking hyper-talented but raw Florida Gators quarterback Anthony Richardson with the No. 4 overall pick.
Despite being heavily linked to Kentucky signal caller Will Levis, the Colts opted for Richardson after the Texans traded up one spot ahead of them to select edge rusher Will Anderson.
Richardson, 20, only started one year at Florida, throwing for 2,549 yards and 17 passing touchdowns while adding 654 rushing yards and nine more touchdowns on the ground.
His passing skills are raw and he certainly carries risk, but has enormous upside in the NFL, with many evaluators comparing him to Cam Newton.
The Colts have Gardner Minshew on the roster, but after cycling through five different starting quarterbacks in the last five seasons, they now hope Richardson can be the starter for the next decade in Indianapolis.
