A nine-bedroom, non-waterfront Miami Beach home formerly owned by art curator Ximena Caminos, the ex-wife of Argentine hotelier and real estate developer Alan Faena — who herself is an artist and a creative force behind the Faena District in Miami Beach — is on the market for $8.5 million.
As founder of the nonprofit Bluelab Preservation Society, one of Caminos’ latest projects is to create the ReefLine, a sort of underwater High Line that unites technology and art, Miami Beach-style. Instead of walking on old train tracks, visitors could snorkel a 7-mile trail from South Beach to Bal Harbour while viewing an underwater sculpture park and artificial reef.
“The ReefLine is a manifestation of all the spheres I care most about,” Caminos told the New York Times in 2022. “It’s art as a tool for change. It’s sustainable. It’s informed by science and technology. And above all, it’s participatory, free and open to the public.”
Caminos, who’s also from Argentina, is no longer this home’s owner — but one can still get a taste of her style by viewing this colorful, Mediterranean Revival-style spread that she curated at 5454 Pine Tree Drive.
Built in 1928, with 21st-century additions, the 6,828-square-foot property sits on just more than a quarter acre of land.
It features a living room with a coffered ceiling, a large fireplace, archways, and a chic kosher-designed eat-in chef’s kitchen with a butler’s pantry. There’s also a stunning movie theater with jewel-tone walls, a statement den/office with a bold wallpaper showing leopards, and impact-resistant windows and doors.
Outside, the grounds include a pool and spa along with built-in chaise lounges, as well as a wide pergola with barrel ceilings and reflective tiles, and poolside dining.
Caminos bought the home in 2016 for $4 million and sold it for $5.7 million last year to a company led by Miguel Bracamontes Baz, the president of a Mexican media conlglomerate that owns Diario de México and Diario de México USA.
