Mom shares funny and effective hack to stop baby crying instantly

A recent viral video showing a mom calming her crying baby with a simple trick has captured the internet’s (and exhausted parents’) attention this week.

In the clip, the mom uses the hack to soothe her two-month-old and the baby stops crying almost instantly.

In the clip, mom, Melissa Buckley, 27, writes: “POV: Your baby has great music taste.”

She then films herself cradling her crying baby, Jackson, while she says off to the side: “Alexa, play Get Low.”

The second Lil’ Jon’s song comes on, Jackson instantly lifts his head and stops crying.

The pair then bounce along to the hip-hop beats in peace and Melissa even begins to show off some of her best moves.

She captioned the clip, which has nearly 13 million views, “He was fast asleep by the end of the song haha!”

She explained that she and her husband, Zack, now play the Lil Jon bop at least once or twice a day to get Jackson to calm down when he’s being fussy.

The tradition began before he was born

It seems like a magic remedy, but the mum told TODAY, that this has been a part of their routine even before she gave birth.

“I listened to it a lot in the latter half of my pregnancy because I was trying to get him low, and then I listened to it on repeat a good few times a day for probably three, four weeks on end,” she said.

And after Jackson was born, the tradition continued.

Melissa felt helpless when her newborn was crying so much and wasn’t sure what to do, so she decided to experiment with playing the song and it happened to soothe him every time!

She explained that she and her husband, Zack, now play the Lil Jon bop at least once or twice a day to get Jackson to calm down when he’s being fussy.

“Protect this at all costs”

The video was a massive hit with parents everywhere, including Lil Jon himself, who re-shared the video on his own Instagram Story, and wrote in the comments, “Wowwwww.”

Others took to the clip’s comments to express their awe, as well as their own stories about what unexpected songs helped settle their own kids.

One person insisted that Melissa: ‘”Keep this video. Protect it at all cost,” while another wrote: “On HIS WEDDING DAY, this will be your mother-son dance and play this video in the background.”

“My baby’s favorite song is first class by Jack Harlow,” another mom shared. “In 2022 we listened to it a total of 892 times according to Spotify. She is in the top 0.5% of Jack Harlow fans. She got access to exclusive merch.”

Then another person added, “Mine was the theme song to Law & Order SVU. Got both my babies with that one.”

“Old Town Road works every time,” a different TikToker wrote, referring to the Lil Nas X song. “My son is 10 months old. I never listened to it in my pregnancy, but he was screaming in the car at four months and it came on shuffle and it put him to sleep.”
