Trans marathoner Glenique Frank admits to breaking rules by racing as female and fears being banned from future runs

Controversial transgender runner Glenique Frank admits she broke the rules when she entered the London Marathon as a female — and fears she’ll lose her medals and even be banned from future races.

The 54-year-old personal trainer gave the update in a message to her clients that The Post obtained Thursday, saying she was scrapping their appointments because she was so “distressed.”

“This is very serious for my future sporting career,” wrote Frank, who had credited “girl power” while beating out nearly 14,000 women in the female category of Sunday’s race.

The muscular runner earlier told The Post that she innocently “ticked ‘female’ because I see myself as female” when entering the race, one of the world’s six major marathons.

With more than 58,000 runners in all the day’s events — including 118 who registered as non-binary — Frank’s entry under a female name did not appear to stand out to organizers.

Frank also maintains that she did not realize she had done anything wrong until a video of her crediting “girl power” while flexing her bulging biceps sparked outrage when shared by an angered Olympic marathoner.

The backlash made Frank realize that she had not “read the rules for UK Athletics with regards to transgender athletes like me entering in the woman’s event,” she wrote.

“I needed to have taken T-blockers to reduce my testosterone levels and then had a blood test to prove that the levels were under the required level,” added the marathoner, who earlier conceded to not being “a woman.”

“So they might ban me from entering any future events and be disqualified and give my place back from the recent marathons.”

Frank — who earlier offered to give back her finisher’s medal — hopes any punishments will only involve the annual London race, which she said was the only one she entered as a female.

The others — including the New York Marathon in November — were run in the male category under her birth name because of strict rules stipulating entrants use the name and gender on their passport. Photos show she still ran NYC in a red sports bra and fake boobs, however.

“So I’m still going to run Chicago, Berlin and Boston,” she wrote of the races she has already entered as a male. “But never London anymore.”

“Even though I will be trans-female I will enter as a man,” she added.

Frank started running marathons as a man before transitioning to Glenique around three years ago. facebook

Frank said she still plans to “have gender reassignment surgery,” previously telling The Post she will shell out around $20,000 to have “top and bottom surgery” in her native South Africa next year.

Frank’s run sparked controversy after it was highlighted by two-time Olympic marathoner Mara Yamauchi who raged: “Males in the [female] category is UNFAIR for females.”

Yamauchi on Thursday countered Frank’s claim that she was not affecting anyone else given how she was not racing for a spot on the podium or to win any prize money.

“Fairness is not determined by a competition’s outcome, but by who is in the category (amongst other things),” the UK athlete tweeted, comparing Frank’s run to an adult in a kids’ race or a motorcyclist in a bicycle competition.

“Last Sunday, ALL the women in the [LOondon Marathon] Mass race suffered unfair competition bc of Frank’s male advantage.

“In the end ‘only’ 13,983 women suffered a worse finish position. … many women’s results were not affected but they still suffered unfair competition,” her tweet thread continued. “All of these women are exceptional runners. And many people think their race was just a bit of fun & they don’t deserve fairness.

Yamauchi, who also suggested Frank entered a marathon in Japan as female, noted that Frank had complained about the third gender option being “other,” which she found offensive — yet the third option for London is “non-binary.”

Reps for the London Marathon have not responded to requests for comment.
