Tyree Wilson has a Roger Goodell surprise in store for 2023 NFL Draft

During an interview with “Good Morning Football” last week, Tyree Wilson was asked to act out how he’ll greet NFL commissioner Roger Goodell when his name is called Thursday night during the 2023 NFL Draft in Kansas City, Mo.

Wilson, who told The Post that he’s usually not much of a hugger, approached co-host Kyle Brandt, scooping him off the ground like a baby.

The video of him manhandling Brandt, boomeranged around social media.

“It was [a decision] in the moment,” said Wilson, an edge rusher who stands at a hulking 6-foot-6 and has a freakish 86 inch wingspan.

He doubled down on his commitment to using his long arms to wrap up Goodell and put some air between his feet and the ground.

“I told him on ‘Good Morning Football,’ that’s what I’m going to do, so I’m definitely going to do it,” he said.

The 22-year-old out of Texas Tech spent his earliest years in Alaska before moving to the Northeastern part of the Lone Star State, where he grew up rooting for the New Orleans Saints.

Most mock drafts have projected he will be taken off the board in the top 10.

Some have him going second overall to the Houston Texans to play for new head coach DeMeco Ryans, who was hired in January.

“It would be good,” he said of potentially being selected by Houston. “A change from Texas would be good also. But playing in the state I’ve always played in, would be cool. They have a great fan base and a great head coach now with a defensive mind and a lot of success on defense with the 49ers.”

Whichever team nabs him, they’ll be getting a “versatile” player who is “different than a lot of other defensiive ends or edges in the draft. I defend the run a lot, you know, am effective in the pass. I can play a lot of positions.”

And for defenses that need fine tuning, he’s a compulsive about fix it guy — specifically when it comes to things with four wheels.

“I’m a car guy. I have had lots of vehicles since I could first drive. I don’t know the exact number but it’s up there. When I was growing up, I was into Chevy or GMC and basically I would get a vehicle that needed certain things. I would fix it up and sell it for more money. Basically flipping for a profit,” he said.

That prowess in the garage converts to the gridiron.

“Being a pass rusher, you have to mess with a lot of things and perfect a lot of things. And you have to be a technician. I guess it translates.”

He’s currently driving a Dodge Charger and a GMC truck. And for being a car lover, he’s not looking to pick up anything flashy when he signs his rookie contract.

“I don’t have my eye on a car at the moment, but I want to fix up a nice older vehicle, one from the 1990s. No vintage Mercedes, more like an American made car.”

After all, that fits Wilson’s utilitarian lifestyle. He’s is a rugged outdoorsman who hunts and fishes, a pastime he indulges at home and when he returns to Alaska in the summers.

In Texas he’s a catch-and-release kind of fisherman but “in Alaska, it’s salmon, so it’s good eating.”

But come tonight, Wilson will be ditching his country boy veneer and sprucing up with a statement-making getup.

“I don’t know how to explain it. It ain’t crazy, but it’s a floral suit. It’s got some pink and blue in it,” said Wilson who didn’t take inspiration from past past players’ draft night ensembles.

“It’s really me working with the suit guy and finding something I’m comfortable wearing. Something that would look good and that catches a little attention,” he said.

And maybe something roomy enough to lift a commissioner too.
