Nick Kyrgios’ girlfriend supports him at tennis match after psych ward reveal

Nick Kyrgios is battling his way back from injury, and his girlfriend, Costeen Hatzi, is sticking by him.

Hatzi, an influencer and interior designer, was in Stuttgart, Germany, this week with the Australian pro, who fell to Yibing Wu in the first round of the ATP Stuttgart Open on Tuesday.

Kyrgios is dealing with a lingering left knee injury and appeared to be wincing in pain on the sidelines

At the time, Hatzi took to her Instagram Story to share a video of Kyrgios on the court, adding a white heart emoji and a message that she is proud of him.

Hatzi also joined Kyrgios at a tournament party, where the couple posed for photos together.

Kyrgios missed the 2023 Australian Open in January due to the knee injury and underwent arthroscopic surgery that month.

After Tuesday’s match, he took to Twitter to share an emotional message about his return to the court.

“Be patient with me my fans please…. It’s a process to get back to where I was,” Kyrgios wrote.

“I know it’s hard for you to see me perform like today, but I need more time and hopefully can get back to where I was.”

Kyrgios made headlines earlier this week when reports claimed he was admitted to a London psychiatric ward due to suicidal thoughts following a second-round loss at Wimbledon in 2019.

The controversial pro reportedly discussed his mental health during the second part of the Netflix docuseries “Break Point.”

“I was genuinely contemplating if I wanted to commit suicide,” he said in the sixth episode, titled “Belonging,” which will be released on June 21.

Kyrgios added that while playing at Wimbledon in 2019, he wore a sleeve to cover up marks of self-harm.

In a cover interview with “Esquire Australia” earlier this month, Kyrgios said Hazti has helped him look after himself more and focus on his priorities.

The pro, who has been candid about his past partying habits and drinking, also explained that he is now happy spending more time at home, “which is not how it used to be.”

“When you’re always wanting that stimulation and drinking and all this type of bulls–t, that’s when I think things can go a bit pear shaped,” Kyrgios said. “So now, when I’m feeling like s–t, I don’t need to go anywhere. I can just be at home and have a nice home-cooked meal, spend some time with my dad, watch some NBA and just take some time for myself.”

Kyrgios went public with his romance with Hazti in December 2021, not long after his highly publicized split from Chiara Passari.

In 2022, Kyrgios was accused of domestic violence following an incident with Passari and was later charged with common assault after allegedly pushing Passari outside the apartment block where she lived.

The charge was eventually dismissed and removed from his record after a judge cited that while Kyrgios had indeed “acted poorly in the heat of the moment,” the case was “at the lower end of the scale of common assault.”
