Trump celebrates Westchester DA closing criminal probe against company as ‘honorable thing to do’

Former President Donald Trump celebrated a small legal victory on Thursday following his federal indictment in Miami this week.

A criminal probe into the Trump Organization by the Westchester County district attorney has been closed, an office spokesperson confirmed Thursday afternoon.

No charges were filed in the case where prosecutors were reportedly looking into whether Trump’s family company misled local officials about the value of Trump National Golf Club in Briarcliff Manor to pay a smaller property tax bill.

The dropped case, first reported on by Business Insider Wednesday and confirmed Thursday, comes two days after Trump appeared in a federal courthouse in Miami to be arraigned on charges he allegedly mishandled classified information.

“The Westchester County District Attorney’s Office conducted an investigation regarding certain properties owned by Donald J. Trump and/or the Trump Organization located in Westchester County, New York,” an office spokesperson said in a statement.

“Our investigation is now closed.”

“We approached this investigation as we do all of our investigations, objectively, and independent of politics, party affiliation and personal or political beliefs.”

The office is run by District Attorney Mimi Rocah, who took over the position in 2021.

Trump cheered on the decision, calling it the “honorable thing to do,” in a Truth Social post Thursday evening.

“AFTER GOING THROUGH A CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION FOR TWO YEARS BY THE DISTRICT ATTORNEYS OFFICE IN WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NEW YORK, IT WAS JUST ANNOUNCED THAT THE CASE HAS BEEN DROPPED, AND NO CHARGES WILL BE FILED,” Trump wrote in all caps.

“THIS WAS THE HONORABLE THING TO DO IN THAT I DID NOTHING WRONG, BUT WHERE AND WHEN DO I GET MY REPUTATION BACK? WHEN WILL THE OTHER FAKE CASES AGAINST ME BE DROPPED? ELECTION INTERFERENCE!!!

While Trump has sidestepped legal trouble in the Westchester probe that started in 2021, he’s already been indicted separately in the federal case from this week and in Manhattan over alleged hush money payments made before the 2016 presidential election.

Trump has denied wrongdoing in both cases.
