Kevin Durant rips fans’ ‘trash’ take after joining Twitter Spaces chat about himself

Kevin Durant appeared to just want his say in a Twitter Spaces discussion focused on himself.

The former MVP and Phoenix Suns star jumped into a chat titled “Kevin Durant is not top 5” on Friday and actually took time to address the fans in the space.

Durant, who was shipped to the Suns from the Nets prior to the NBA trade deadline last season, has never been shy about entering the fray on Twitter.

While addressing the group, he ripped into how the fans digest the game and how meaningless he felt ranking players is.

“I just think how y’all even look at the game is whack as f—k,” Durant said in a clip recorded from the session. “You factor in team success when you talking about players. I just think how y’all consume the game is trash, like are you good or not?

“I mean some things could be that simple. Are you just good or not? I mean, a lot of people have seen it for a long time brother and it’s OK. These lists don’t really mean nothing anyway, so why are you getting so upset about ’em?”

One of the speakers in the group said they agreed with Durant.

Durant’s standing in the NBA pantheon has always been up for debate — as the one player who truly challenged LeBron James’ level of greatness during their prime.

The former MVP won two championships with the Warriors, and both times, he claimed the Finals MVP.

But many will feel Durant’s two rings came with a super-team and that he latched onto a club that had already won a title before him.

He has failed to reach the Finals in any of his other stops in Oklahoma City, Brooklyn and Phoenix.

Durant’s time with the Nets and friend Kyrie Irving and later James Harden was a disaster between injuries and an inability to get all three on the court together.

The furthest Brooklyn went in the playoffs was reaching the Eastern Conference semifinals in 2021.

Durant may have his next best chance to hoist the Larry O’Brien trophy again in Phoenix with Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, who the team traded for in a blockbuster deal Sunday.

Another ring could lead to a different discussion about Durant’s greatness.
