‘Gang’s All Here’ Podcast Episode 159: Jets’ Improbable Win Over Giants

You don’t apologize for wins in the NFL. A win is a win is a win.

But that was that one of the ugliest wins you will ever get in the NFL.

The Jets have the Giants’ ineptitude to thank for an improbable 13-10 win in overtime on Sunday at a rainy, ugly MetLife Stadium. Mix in an inept Giants offense with Tyrod Taylor out with an injury with some poor coaching decisions from Brian Daboll and a missed field goal by Graham Gano in the final 30 seconds and the result is a Jets win to get them to 4-3 and right in the playoff conversation.

The Jets should be happy they won. But, boy, do they have things to clean up in practice this week before the 3-4 Chargers come to MetLife for some Monday night football next week.

To react to the wild win in OT over the Giants, Brian Costello and I are joined by Paul Schwartz on a Jets-Giants crossover episode of the “Gang’s All Here” podcast.

Gang’s All Here Podcast with Jake Brown, Brian Costello & Paul Schwartz:

  • IMPROBABLE WIN: Jets have to play better if they want to be taken as a serious playoff contender. Zach Wilson has to make quicker decisions. He was holding on to the ball too long. He took sacks at times when he should have got rid of it or thrown something down the field. Injuries across the board are dooming them, especially with more to the offensive line.
  • NOT GOING FOR IT: Brian Daboll decided to go for the field goal with 30 seconds left. Should he have gone for it on fourth-and-1? Every button Daboll is pushing is not working.
  • STATE OF JETS: Jets are in a blurry playoff race. There are a lot of teams in it. A bunch of the other teams in the race also have flaws. There is also still the hope of Aaron Rodgers potentially coming back before the end of the season.
  • STATE OF GIANTS: This is dreadful offensive football. Darren Waller now will miss time. Players are getting frustrated.
