Zack Britton had an impressive 12-year MLB career out of the bullpen.

Britton’s 3.14 career ERA and 154 saves is pretty damn good. He’s now calling it quits as he is off into retirement.

The former Yankees reliever pitched his final five seasons in the Bronx, dealing with injuries during a lot of that time.

Britton had some intriguing comments on where the team stands and where a disconnect might be on “The Show” podcast with Joel Sherman and Jon Heyman.

‘The Show’ Podcast with Joel Sherman & Jon Heyman:

  • OHTANI/YAMAMOTO: Ohtani will sign the biggest contract in baseball history. His deal is holding some things up. Everybody is looking at Yamamoto.
  • SOTO/FREE AGENTS: Definitely see Juan Soto getting dealt. Padres are trying to shed payroll. Where might Cody Bellinger end up?

Zack Britton Interview: Former MLB reliever

  • RETIRING: Didn’t want to miss his four kids. Offers weren’t where he wanted them to be. Took last year off and enjoyed the family time.
  • CAREER: Never got the World Series ring he wanted. Thought he would get it with the Yankees.
  • YANKEES STRUGGLES: Felt like there was a disconnect between front office and players in terms of analytics. Players vs. data were not lining up. It’s not just a Yankees issue.
  • HIS FUTURE: Always had interest in helping build a team, but not a GM.
