Jalen Brunson not caring about his spot in the Knicks’ pregame ritual is another reminder of why he’s the perfect franchise leader

Jalen Brunson, you could argue quite successfully, is the King of New York sports right now. The biggest apple in the Big Apple. Bigger than the two Aarons, Judge and Rodgers. Bigger than Pete Alonso. Bigger than Artemi Panarin or Matt Rempe or any hockey player. Bigger than Sabrina Ionescu or Breanna Stewart. I don’t even know where to start with the Giants. Dexter Lawrence?

Brunson has the fan base in an absolute frenzy, a blue and orange crazed mob that turned Wells Fargo Center into MSG South. Those fans are ready to explode for Tuesday’s Game 5, with two reactions certain: “MVP” chants for Brunson and profanities directed at Joel Embiid.

Yet, barring last-minute change in the Knicks routine, Brunson won’t be the last player introduced in the lineups Tuesday during a super-charged pregame atmosphere.

Has anybody ever pointed that out to him?
