Cavaliers-Celtics pick
After a hard-fought series against the Orlando Magic in the first round, the Cleveland Cavaliers hit the road to start a second-round series against the Boston Celtics.
Boston is favored by 12.5 points on BetMGM Sportsbook. While that number feels very high, the Celtics have the potential to blow teams out and are far better rested.
Everyone got thrown off the scent when the Miami Heat hit 23-of-43 3-pointers to beat Boston in Game 2 of their first round series, but the Celtics won the rest of those games by at least 14 points. Boston has skill everywhere (even with Kristaps Porzingis out), shoots a ton of 3-pointers, and has the defensive versatility to limit its opponents.
Even through Cleveland should be able to compete in this series, Game 1 is a bad spot for it because it only has two days rest after a long and physical series against the Orlando Magic. Center Jarrett Allen could miss this game as well. Plus, the Cavaliers failed to reach 100 points in five of their seven games vs. the Magic, and that level of offense won’t work against Boston.
