The situation has gotten hairy.
Comedian John Mulaney has the internet abuzz, not for his jokes, but for his coif’.
Mulaney, 41, is currently hosting the Netflix live show “John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s in LA” that’s streaming for six nights (with new episodes out at 10 p.m. from May 6 to 10).
But instead of praising the jokes in the show, one viewer said on X, formerly Twitter, “John Mulaney’s hair in Everybody’s in LA is beautiful.”
“I like the Clark Kent thing John Mulaney’s got going on with his hair,” another said.
“Is John Mulaney wearing Jason Bateman’s old hair?” another fan speculated.
Another audience member pondered, “Why has John mulaney adopted the TikTok e boy middle part long hair look. Not saying I’m mad about it but it’s a choice.”
Mulaney even posted a Netflix billboard that read, “John Mulaney’s hair is different now. See it live.”
“Sunset Blvd,” he captioned the Instagram photo. It’s unclear if the billboard is actually real.
In the first episode of the eccentric comedy show — which was themed to coyotes — Mulaney welcomed guest Jerry Seinfeld and Citizens for Los Angeles Wildlife representative Tony Tucci (not related to Stanley, as a graphic told the audience). Richard Kind also made an appearance, and there was a pre-taped bit featuring comedians Earthquake, Stavros Halkias, Natasha Leggero and Chelsea Peretti touring a five-bedroom home — only to find that they were competing with a group of other comedians, including Dan Levy.
Additionally, Will Ferrell made an appearance playing an elderly music producer, and the show included a music performance from St. Vincent.
“No matter what happens this week, we are done May 10, which is awesome,” he explained in the monologue. “Why even do this show? I dunno. But it gives me something to do, and structure is key for me.”
Mulaney had a lot of upheaval in his personal life over the past few years: he divorced his ex-wife Anna Marie Tendler, 38, who he was married to from 2014 to 2022. Tendler’s forthcoming memoir, “Men Have Called Her Crazy,” is described as being about “the endless source of my heartbreak and rage — men.”
Mulaney and his girlfriend, actress Olivia Munn, 43, welcomed their son, Malcolm, in November 2021. Mulaney also went to rehab in 2020 for using a cocktail of drugs including Adderall, Xanax, Klonopin, Percocet and cocaine.
Munn also recently revealed she’s been battling breast cancer. She had a double mastectomy as part of her treatment.
“I’m so thankful to John for the nights he spent researching what every operation and medication meant, and what side effects and recovery I could expect,” Munn posted on her Instagram in March.
“For being there when I went into each surgery and being there when I woke up, always placing framed photos of our little boy Malcolm so that it would be the first thing I saw when I opened my eyes.”
