Mike Puma has served as Mets beat reporter for the New York Post since 2010. He began covering baseball in 1998 and has reported on over 2,500 games, with the Mets and Yankees as his focus. He was part of the reporting team that broke the story an encounter with a wild boar led to injuries that derailed Yoenis Cespedes’ career. The Waterbury, Conn., native graduated from Fordham University with a biology degree (that has never been put to use) and resides in the Hudson Valley with his wife, three children and cavapoo Reese. He is the author of “If These Walls Could Talk, New York Mets.” Before coming to The Post in 2007, he worked for the Connecticut Post in Bridgeport, Conn., and Waterbury (Conn.) Republican-American.
