Video shows first look at Aaron Rodgers putting in work as Jets quarterback

Aaron Rodgers is already throwing passes in Jets gear.

The Jets released a video on their Twitter account Thursday morning, hours before the 2023 NFL Draft, featuring a first look of Rodgers throwing a pass as the Jets quarterback.

On a field at the team’s training facility in Florham Park, Rodgers, donning a black, long-sleeve Jets shirt with black Jets shorts, threw a pass to wide receiver Allen Lazard, whom the Jets signed to a four-year, $44 million contract after he played with Rodgers for the past five seasons with the Packers.

Rodgers, 39, was introduced as the team’s new quarterback during a press conference on Wednesday, two days after the Jets finally agreed on a trade for the longtime Packers signal-caller.

With the arrival of Rodgers, expectations have soared for the 2023 Jets.

“I’m an old guy so I want to be part of a team that can win it all,” Rodgers said Wednesday in Florham Park. “I believe this is a place we can get that done.”

Though Jets legend Joe Namath gave Rodgers his blessing to wear Namath’s No. 12, which the Jets retired, Rodgers showed deference to Namath in choosing to wear No. 8, his college number at Cal.

“I heard what he said about unretiring his number, but to me, 12 is Broadway Joe,” Rodgers said.

Namath was moved by Rodgers’ comment.

“That was warm, that touched my heart a bit, that shows something about the man. He has a way about him, a lot of respect for the past. I was humbly grateful, you know what I mean? It felt good. It made me like [him] even more,” Namath told The Post’s Steve Serby with a laugh. “First time I met him I liked him, and I’ll tell you what, I’ve not seen anybody play better than him the times over the last 10, 15 years I’ve been watching.”
